The Madison Public Schools is committed to offering a choice of healthy, nutritious, wholesome meals each school day.
 
The Madison Public School District does not participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), however, we are committed to providing wholesome, nutritious meals that our students will enjoy.
 

The district values our relationships with local vendors who provide:

  • Cohen's Bagels
  • Ashley's Ice Cream 
  • Fresh produce from Connecticut farms

Our menus include a wide variety of appealing choices that our students love.

All schools offer lots of fresh fruits and veggies at every meal, with an emphasis on produce from local Connecticut farms when in season. Soup is on the menu seasonally.

We bake many of our snack items right here in our cafeterias, and a large assortment of chips and cookies are available.

All schools serve lunch. Breakfast items are also available at Polson Middle School and Daniel Hand High School.

My Payments Plus

Each MPS student is automatically issued an account for our cashless system in the cafeterias.  Parents can login to the My Payments Plus system to view meal purchases, account balances, fund the account and set up low balance alerts.

Funding your account

You can add money to your child’s account using:

  • Bank account, Visa/Mastercard.
    Paying by card allows you set up automatic funding if the account fall below your chosen amount. My Payments Plus does charge a transaction fee for funding your balance with bank account or credit card.
  • Check, payable to Madison Public Schools Food Service.  Check payments do not incur a transaction fee.
    • You may send the check in to school with your child.
    • Checks may be sent by US Mail.  Please enclose a note with your child’s name, grade, student ID number and how to divide the check if you have multiple children.

Free and Reduced Price Application

Madison Public Schools does not participate in the National School Lunch Program.  Children who qualify may be eligible to receive lunch for free or at a reduced price. Polson Middle School and Daniel Hand High School students who are eligible for free/reduced priced lunch are also eligible for free/reduced priced breakfast.

Summer Meals

End Hunger Connecticut! is a statewide anti-hunger and food security organization. Summer Meals are free, nutritious, meals and snacks that are provided to kids and teens, 18 years of age and younger, throughout the summer when school is out.

Madison Youth & Family Services assists citizens in need with various local and state assistance programs, help applying for financial assistance, transportation, food, utility and adult counseling needs. Please contact MYFS directly if you need assistance with summer meals.

If a child has a disability, as determined by a doctor, and the disability prevents the child from eating the regular school meal, the school will make substitutions prescribed by the doctor. If a substitution is needed, there will be no extra charge for the meal. Please call the school for further information.
