Child Find Preschool Screenings

Madison Public Schools Child Find Preschool Screenings – 2025–2026

In accordance with federal and state regulations, Madison Public Schools is committed to identifying, locating, and evaluating all children who may have developmental delays or disabilities and may be eligible for special education and related services. As part of this commitment, the district offers Child Find preschool screenings for Madison residents who have concerns about their child’s development in areas such as speech and language, behavior, fine motor skills, and gross motor/physical development.

The preschool screening is a play-based, multidisciplinary evaluation process designed for children ages 3 to 5 (not yet eligible for kindergarten) who may be experiencing developmental challenges. Screenings are conducted by a team of certified professionals, which may include a:

  • School Psychologist
  • Special Education Teacher
  • Speech-Language Pathologist
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Physical Therapist

These professionals work collaboratively to observe and assess each child’s developmental functioning and determine whether further evaluation or intervention may be appropriate.

Screening appointments are available to Madison residents by calling Julia Gianquinto at (203) 245-6340. A staff member will assist you in determining if a screening is appropriate for your child and help schedule a time.
