MPS 2022-2023 Teacher and Paraprofessional of the Year
Teacher of the Year: Laura Stott
Laura has been teaching in the district for 18 years. She is known for her inspirational teaching which she continually refines and refreshes. Laura Stott currently teaches Civics, AP US History, Humanities and previously taught Independent Study. Mrs. Stott was one of the pilot teachers for this course - this foundational work laid the cornerstone for this new graduation requirement. Laura believes in bringing authenticity to her classroom and students are in the center of what she finds rewarding in teaching.
Paraprofessional of the Year: Barbara Simos
Barbara has been a paraprofessional with Madison Public Schools since 2008. She is known for her love of her students, her team-player mentality, and her intellectual curiosity. As a para at Daniel Hand High School, Barbara supports her teachers, providing information and resources to help foster student growth and development. Barbara’s sense of humor and positive attitude encourages her students’ engagement with learning.
