Daniel Hand High School
Thursday, June 18, 2020 6:00 p.m. ![]() Each graduate’s family will be allowed one vehicle to participate in the ceremony, only these vehicles will be allowed on campus. After a great deal of consultation with our local public health experts we are very proud to share our plans for the graduation ceremony of the Class of 2020 with the Madison community.
Graduation will take place, in-person on June 18, 2020. Based on the guidelines provided to us from the CT Department of Education the graduation ceremony will take place in the Daniel Hand High School parking lot. Students/families will sit in their vehicle, but the ceremony, for the most part, will be very similar to the ceremony at the Town Green. Live speeches will be given by four students and the principal. The event will be livestreamed, broadcast on an FM radio station, and will be projected on-site on a large LED screen. Again, each graduate’s family will be allowed one vehicle to participate in the ceremony and only those vehicles will be allowed on campus. Due to the size of the parking lot, only vehicles that seat 7 or fewer will be allowed to participate.
Input from the students of the Class of 2020 indicated that students should be recognized as one group, not spread out over multiple ceremonies, and that an appropriate process be identified so that students can wear their cap and gown and walk across the stage. We are proud to share that we have been able to accommodate these student requests.
For community members interested in this event there will be three opportunities provided:
Recessional Parade
