Memorial Day Ceremonies at Brown and Polson

On May 27, students and staff at Brown and Polson hosted a group of six service members from the Madison VFW for a flag raising ceremony to mark Memorial Day. Grade 5 students Declan Quinn, Liam Davia, Lucas Davia and Hudson Hendershot shared accounts of past service men buried in Madison’s West Cemetery and Campbell Leckey and Sophia Almouzayn helped raise the flag and led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.   

Students also created a video to honor Memorial Day at Brown and Polson. The students wrote the scripts, shot the footage, and edited the film making the video almost entirely student produced. by Maryanne Harmuth of Madison Historical Society provided all of the research to students. The video was shown to all students in both buildings.
