Peace Poster Contest 2022

Four Polson students were honored on Saturday, January 21 by the Madison Lions Club for their work in the Peace Poster Contest. The Lions International have sponsored the contest for the last 30 years to encourage young people worldwide to express their visions of peace. Students use characteristics of Surrealism to illustrate their personal meaning of peace, based on a selected theme. The theme for this year is Lead with Compassion.  In addition to the drawings, students also wrote an artist’s statement that explains their artwork.

The judges are local artists from our shoreline towns who put a great deal of time into analyzing each poster and written statement.  The selected winners are given thoughtful feedback as to why their artwork was chosen. Thank you to these students and all Polson students who worked under the direction and encouragement of Polson art teacher Christa Radziunas to create beautiful and meaningful pieces of art.

This year’s seventh grade winners are:

1st place - Claire Campbell

2nd place - Olivia Howard

3rd place - Rebecca Reh

Honorable Mention - Eliana Freeman

Posters will be on display at the Scranton Library during the month of January!
