Polson Middle Holds Career Day for Grade 8 Students

January 14, 2020 - Students at Polson Middle School had the opportunity to learn about numerous careers and professions this week thanks to an in-school Career Day. Parents and volunteers came to Polson and met with Grade 8 students in their core classes on Jan. 14.

Presenters included professionals from the medical field, financial advisors, realtors, scientists, and Biotechnology. In addition, representation from Junior Achievement shared perspective and programs for additional considerations. Career Day was organized by Polson’s Mrs. Carol Sullivan. She said this day is a great way to get kids thinking a bit about their futures.

I think the take away that many students have every year is that many adults arrive at their career through different paths,” she said. “Some people know what they want to be in middle school, work towards that goal, and end up in that career that they dreamed about in middle school. Many others have a plan and then that plan changes, perhaps many times, until they land in a career. The kids also see the passion that our presenters bring. The presenters enjoy their job and I think that can be one of the most rewarding parts of an adult’s life and therefore is important for kids to see.”
