Polson Students Share Their Picture Books with Jeffrey Students

Polson eighth graders traveled to Jeffrey on Oct. 16 to read their own picture books about glaciers to Jeffrey students. Students in grade 3 are currently engaged in a Science and Social Studies interdisciplinary unit that revolves around how Paleo- and Native Americans used the natural resources in Connecticut. Students study landforms, such as the moraines and glacial erratics found throughout our town. Polson revisits some of these concepts in their grade 7 Geology Unit, including how glaciers contributed to the structures we see all over Connecticut. One of the assignments was to write a children's book explaining glaciation.
