Veterans Day at Polson
Today we held a school-wide assembly today for Veterans Day and were honored to host several veterans from our Polson families as well as representatives from the Madison VFW and American Legion. The program started with a small flag raising ceremony outdoors followed by a school-wide assembly where we expressed gratitude to our Veterans for their dedication, sacrifice, and service to our nation.
In addition to words from Principal Kathryn Hart, Social Studies K-8 Coordinator Chris Pagliuco, and Social Studies teacher Art Robbins, students participated to make the event memorable. Thank you to Rachel Lehman, Tommy Corwin, Maggie Kennedy, Ava Jacobson, Ava Bencivengo, and Andrew King for contributing to our ceremony. We even had members of the Polson staff play the Star Spangled Banner: Will Card, John Leonard, and Tyler Michaud. One of our honored guests and Polson parent, Captain Eva J. Van Camp, spoke to students about her work in the US Coast Guard and introduced us to special visitor Sammy the Sea Otter who spoke about water safety. One of the most special moments was seeing the entire Polson community on their feet, cheering for our veterans as they entered and exited the auditorium. A final thank you to Superintendent Craig Cooke for joining us and to the Polson PTO for hosting a light breakfast for our special guests.
