WPMS Grade 6 Students Take Top Prize in READBowl!
Polson grade six students participated in a four week global reading competition called READBowl put on by Malcolm Mitchell, an author, reading activist and former Super Bowl champion on the New England Patriots. This year 280,000 students participated from 50 states and 14 different countries.
Each week students would read and record their at school and home minutes that they read. Then they would calculate and submit their total minutes to their teacher. They were shown inspirational videos of authors and athletes along the way to keep them motivated and reading.
At the end of the four weeks, our Polson sixth grade student read for a total of 162,648 minutes, which is 2,710.8 hours!
In addition, every state crowns a state champion in each grade level division. Mrs. Zarotney’s team of her two language arts classes won the State Champions for the Middle School division for Connecticut.
Bravo sixth graders on a job well done!
