Ryerson Students Celebrate Author Study

On Wednesday, February 19, 2020,  Allie Salomone’s class celebrated their Cynthia Rylant author study.  They recently finished a reading and writing unit where they immersed themselves in the work of Cynthia Rylant.  They read many of her books and reflected on what was important to this author, discovered her writing craft moves, and tracked common themes in her books.  They wrote small moment stories and poetry under her influence.  As a final project, students selected an author of their own to investigate.  They collaborated with a group of readers and worked together to plan and create a presentation that displayed what they learned about their author. They decided the first graders were a perfect audience since they will do this project in the year to come!
