Ryerson Students Write Cards for Senior Citizens

Second grade students at Ryerson Elementary School recently put pen to paper to write positive message to seniors in the Madison community. As a part of the Grade 2 Social Studies curriculum, students have been learning about community beyond the classroom, family, and school. Second Grade teacher Mrs. Jennifer Figurelli said students have learned about needs and wants in a community and were asked to come up with ideas of projects to help people in the community. Mrs. Figurelli said students wanted to help senior citizens so students practiced writing kind messages to senior citizens.

“We found a way to spread some joy and sprinkle some of this kindness that we have up on the hill here at Ryerson,” she said.

The messages were placed on cards and on Nov. 21 representatives from the Madison Senior Center dropped by the school to collect the cads which will be included with Meals on Wheels deliveries in the coming weeks.
