To enrich student learning this summer the Madison Public Schools is providing several ways to engage with reading this summer. The following activities and apps are intended to provide students with opportunities to learn and grow. They are not required, just suggested enrichment resources to keep students engaged with learning for the summer.

Join Mrs. Frost and Mrs. Spooner on a Flat Principal adventure this summer!
Jeffrey, Ryerson, and Brown School are excited to announce a fun summer opportunity for learning. We invite you to tuck your principal in your back pocket or beach bag and take him or her on your summer adventures. Keep track of the places you go by taking pictures with your flat principal and keep a summer writing journal to document all that you do. These pictures and written adventures can be shared with your principal, Mrs. Spooner spoonerk@madison.k12.ct.us, Mrs. Frost frostr@madison.k12.ct.us, or Mr. Henderson hendersonf@madison.k12.ct.us. You can also share your journal entries with your teacher when you meet him or her upon the return to school. We hope that you will find this summer project exciting, as you sharpen your writing skills! Be sure to visit your library classroom this summer or find book recommendations on the district website. Students are encouraged to read! All Madison students have access to a wide variety of ebooks and audiobooks through Sora (formerly Overdrive.) Follow the prompts to connect to Madison Public School collection and use your child's student ID number to log in. The Sora app can also be downloaded on most devices.
The Library Google Classrooms for each grade level will also remain accessible over the summer.

Weekly Enrichment
At Daniel Hand High School, we love to see you think critically about the books you are reading to keep your brains sharp for fall! If you are loving your book, try out the weekly reading challenges below! To participate, go to the DHHS library google classroom using class code: fuguk5m. Check in once per week to submit your responses! A teacher will monitor your work and provide feedback throughout the summer.
Hand Reads Book Madness Challenge:
During the 2019- 2020 School year, DHHS students participated in a March Madness-like reading challenge. Students chose 64 titles from which to read and voted during the last few months of school. The titles that made the Final Four were: The Hate U Give, The Great Gatsby, Into the Wild, and The Hunger Games. If you enjoyed any of those titles, the following is a list of readalikes you might enjoy.
